Welcome back! I’ve been looking forward to writing this last article about taking control of your life.
Change requires courage, time and effort.
And a change to the better is not always painless.
Sometimes you will doubt in yourself and feel that you are close to giving up, but don’t forget what you’ve already accomplished.
You had the courage to turn your life around for the better.
You found the right time to do it and you stood up for yourself because you needed something to happen.
You need this and now you must look forward, never back.
You can be satisfied with making it this far, and the way from here is “just” to continue what you have started. Stay on your path.
Look up and look forward, because you can do this.
I promised you last time to give you some effective tools to help you now and in the future.
To Do List
We already know how to make a “ To do list “
– remember the dentist
– buy tomatoes and milk
– eat your vitamins
But in this situation you need a more important list, with words that will remind you of the promises you gave yourself, to receive the reward of getting a better life.
If you did write a list about how your future life will be ( article 1 ) then you already have it written down, what you have to do.
But here is a new list you must write to yourself. It’s a ‘’not to do list’’
It´s just as important as the to-do list.
What do you not want to do?
Maybe you’ve already stopped with your bad habits and maybe you still have something to work on.
Write them all down to remind you what you want or what you don’t want in your life or as a part of yourself.
I will give you some examples on how a ‘’not to do list’’ could look like:
– Try to change the people around me
– Think about old mistakes
– Be around negative people
– Live in the past
– React before I think
– Say yes when I mean no
– Eat to feel better
– Promise more than I can keep
– Use more money than I have
– Take other people for granted
– Suppress my feelings
– Believe that I’m always right
– Put too many things into my life
And as you see the list can go on and on. I’m sure that you recognized some of the things on the list, and other stuff wasn’t familiar to you at all.
That’s just the way it should be because that’s why we all have to make our own list because we’re all different.
It’s a private list.
Now we have a to-do list and a not to do list but what if I told you that there is one more list we have to make? It´s just as important, and it´s a reward for us for all our hard work.
It´s a list with stuff you enjoy doing.
Yes, I’m serious.
It can’t be hard work all the time.
We have to be rewarded every now and then and have some great goals to keep us motivated.
Many people already understand the big value of having a relaxation list.
But again you are the only one who can make this list.
What will make you happy?
What would you like to look forward to?
Maybe it could be something like this :
– Going to the beach on the weekend
– Relax all day tomorrow
– Go for a walk in the forest
– Get a massage
– Eat my favorite ice cream
– Spend the day with my best friend
– Two days with no work at all
– Go and buy the pet I´ve been dreaming about
Only your imagination sets the limits.
All 3 lists are very important, and all of them will help you to reach your goal.
They can’t be wrong, and you can change them anytime you want. You decide what is on your to-do list, your not to do list and your relaxation list.
Another important thing I want to share with you is that no matter how tough it gets, you are not alone. There will be people around you who can support you. Maybe not the ones you had expected to be there, and maybe not the ones you had been hoping for would support you, but you won’t have to do this on your own.
It’s always okay to reach out and ask for help, which I will illustrate this with a story I heard many years ago.
Story Of A Bat
A woman was on a walk in a big city when she suddenly saw a big group of people gathering together. She went to them to see what was going on and saw that on the ground was a little bat laying on its stomach and with the wings spread out. It couldn’t move at all.
A man took his hand down in front of its head to help, but it got scared and hissed at him, so he jumped back and wanted to give up.
Some of the other people started to discuss what to do.
One of them said: “ We can jump on it – then it´s over “. Another said: “ No we can just go away – then the dogs will take it “
The bat was helpless, scared and alone.
The woman had no idea what to do, she just knew she would not let them jump on it – there had to be a way.
Suddenly a young girl stepped out of the crowd and went to the bat. She sat down and took her hand down to the bat – but from the back. With two fingers she could lift it up a little bit and in the same second it got a bit of air under the wings, it flew up and disappeared over the top of the trees. What a happy surprise.
The woman and the young girl had a short eye-contact, smiled and then she was gone.
The people moved on and a problem was solved in a few seconds, easy and painless.
This experience made a big impression for the woman. The bat was in trouble so deep that it almost died, but suddenly all the problem was solved in two seconds and by a little girl.
What can we learn from this story? Sometimes WE are the ones laying on the floor in need of help.
Don’t hesitate to accept the help you can get.
Like the bat we don’t need people to carry us around the rest of our life, most times we just need a helping hand, so we can get back on our feet again and move on.
And it’s important to remember that we are not strong and weak at the same time.
Sometimes we are the ones who have to accept help, and other times we are the ones giving help.
I hope that these articles will be a help for you in your life, and that they will be useful for you working on fulfilling your goals.

No matter what happens, never give up!
