What is a common cold? You’ve probably had one before a couple of times, but maybe you’re not quite sure what it is and how you can avoid it.
We’ll talk about all of those things, and how you lower the risk of getting it, as well as what you do if you get it.
Stay tuned to find out more!
What Is A Common Cold
The common cold is mostly known as just a cold. It’s a viral infectious disease that can lead to headaches, runny nose, sore throat, coughing, fever and more. Doesn’t sound too great, does it?
You have probably been hit by a virus that gave you these symptoms before, right? Pretty much everyone has tried having a cold before.
It is contagious so be careful if you’re around someone with a cold since there’s a risk of you waking up with the same cold the next day.
How To Lower The Risk Of Getting It
Even though you may not be 100% safe of getting a cold, then there still are some small things you can do to avoid getting it.
If you’re around someone who has a cold and you shake hands and you don’t wash them all day, then there’s a big risk of you waking up feeling ill. Wash your hands regularly and be careful if you’re around someone who has already been infected.
2. Boost your immune system
Keeping your body healthy improves your immune system, which is very important if you don’t want to get sick. If your immune system is weak, then it can’t fight against incoming viruses and more.
Don’t fill your body with junk. Smoking, alcohol, unhealthy food, and so on.
Vitamins have made a huge difference for me. My immune system is weak, it always has been.
But vitamins have helped me not to be nearly as sick as I used to be!
4. Keep yourself warm
If it’s winter, or cold in general, and you walk around in shorts and a t-shirt, then you probably will get ill at some point. Unless your immune function is amazing. Don’t walk around freezing all the time, keep yourself warm.
What You Can Do If You Get It
Still, do the 4 things I recommended doing to prevent it. Vitamins can still lower the period of time you’re being sick, and keeping yourself warm will help your body feel better faster because your body uses a lot of energy on keeping you warm, if you’re freezing all the time.
It can be good for you to get some fresh air, so go for a walk if you can find the energy to do it. It doesn’t have to be a 5-mile walk, just get out and get some fresh air.
Otherwise, take the time to relax and let your body gather new energy. If you power through the virus and go to the gym for 4 hours, then you’ll probably feel sick for a longer time, because now your body has to work with your sore muscles as well.
Have a lot of tea to keep you warm and sit with a blanket while watching your favorite movie and then you will feel better.
You can use honey in your tea to make your throat feel less sore and have a few painkillers to help with your fever.
Normally a cold last about a week, but if you keep feeling sick then you should go to the doctor because then it can be bacteria that needs to be treated.
Supplements That Helps You
As we’ve talked about, vitamins play a big part in keeping your immune system strong enough to fight incoming diseases.
That is why you should always take your vitamins daily because they give your body the extra boost it needs to lower the risk of you getting sick. If you’ve read the article I mentioned earlier then you know that I get very easily sick and I was really sick pretty much every month. Then I started taking the vitamins I should have been taken all the time, and now I haven’t been really sick for over a year.
So it really does make a huge difference whether you take your vitamins or not.
You can use these articles to find the supplements you need:
In those two articles, you will find multivitamins and other supplements to boost your health, which is why I recommend you take a look at them. It can be difficult to find the right supplements, because many supplements don’t contain a high amount of the vitamins, but those I suggest do! So go get them 🙂
Having a strong immune system is the best way to prevent getting sick, which is why you should prioritize it!
It’s not that difficult to do. Just by taking your vitamins daily you already lower the risk of getting sick because your body can fight against incoming viruses.
It has helped me a lot and I’m sure it can help you as well, so if you haven’t got any vitamins at home or may need some new supplements that contain higher amounts of vitamins, then check out the links for my other articles!
